From the Raw Materials Transport System to Intermodal Transportation: Changes and Modernization in the Railway Sector to increase export and import to/from the EU

Introduction
Ukraine's railway transport is crucial for its economy, especially in the War period. In particular, it is important for the export of raw materials, and import of products such as fuel and coal.
As Ukraine aims to increase its trade exchange with the EU, several changes and modernization efforts in the railway transport system are necessary. These efforts include adopting intermodal and container transportation solutions in order to boost exports. In this way, rail can become an even more important alternative to maritime transportation, which is particularly important in case of disruptions at the Black Sea. However, the challenges related to transporting goods by rail remain.
The main goals of the event are:
- to provide UA and EU participants with the main tendencies and changes in the railway transport infrastructure that will lead to an increase in railway transportation, including in relation to the modernization of railway tracks in Ukraine
- to present the main data, tendencies, and rules for the adoption of Intermodal Transportation Solutions in the railway system
- to discuss the opportunities and challenges related to the export and import of goods by rail from Ukraine to/from the EU from the perspective of companies involved in rail transportation
How will the event be organized?
- We will have the main speaker from Ukrzaliznytsia, who will share information about the latest trends in the Ukrainian rail sector and the plans of Ukrzaliznytsia.
- All participants of the event will take part in the discussion with the foreseen participation of a representative of the European Commission. It's planned to discuss opportunities and challenges related to the export and import of goods by rail from Ukraine to/from the EU.
- EU and UA companies will have the opportunity to present themselves during the event.
What do you need to do to present your company during the event?

- Company needs to be logistics companies or producers/importers/exporters/buyers/distributors, all involved in trade by rail between the EU and Ukraine
